About the Saudi Accreditation Center

About the Saudi Accreditation Center

The Saudi Accreditation Center is the national authority authorized to provide accreditation services for conformity assessment bodies in the Kingdom, ensuring the competence of these bodies and the reliability of their outputs in accordance with approved international standards. The Center's scope of work includes the accreditation of laboratories, inspection bodies, certification bodies, and halal certification bodies, contributing to strengthening the quality infrastructure and supporting confidence in the products and services provided.

The Center works to develop the accreditation system through the application of international best practices, by building national technical capacities, leveraging the expertise of assessors and experts cooperating with it in implementing assessment processes, as well as enhancing cooperation with relevant regional and international organizations and bodies, which supports mutual recognition of accreditation certificates and strengthens the Kingdom's presence in relevant international forums.

The Center also contributes to supporting decision-makers through specialized studies and database development, and raising awareness of the importance of accreditation in improving the quality of products and services, and protecting consumers.

The Beginning of the Saudi Center for Accreditation

In the year 1425 AH – 2004 AD, the National Accreditation Committee was established to regulate the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies in the Kingdom. Within the framework of developing the national quality system, the Council of Ministers issued Resolution No. (600) dated 22 Shawwal 1440 AH, corresponding to June 25, 2019 AD, which transformed the Committee into an independent entity under the name of the Saudi Accreditation Center, enjoying legal personality and financial and administrative independence, and organizationally linked to His Excellency the Minister of Commerce.

Since its establishment, the Center has continued to develop its roles and functions in a way that enhances the efficiency of the accreditation system and consolidates confidence in conformity assessment results, in support of economic development objectives and the quality of products and services in the Kingdom, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 targets.
